Hubert Vaz-Nayak, Managing Director
Hubert is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and advisor to multiple companies. He has established a strong track record for building successful businesses, and for transforming dysfunctional organizations into productive ones. He currently owns and/or operates multiple businesses across a broad range of industries.
Most recently, Hubert co-founded Graviti Energy, one of the fastest-growing EV charging infrastructure operators in the country. Graviti manufacturers, installs and operates EV charging facilities across the Southern US.
Prior to founding Thrive Partners, Hubert was an executive at BMC Software, a leading software vendor, where he was instrumental in helping establish a new operating rhythm within the company that facilitated cross-functional cooperation. While the rest of the company grew in single digits, the businesses Hubert worked with grew at over 70% p.a.
Before joining BMC, Hubert was a senior strategy management consultant with Accenture’s strategy consulting practice where he advised management teams of major US corporations on a broad range of strategic and operational issues. Prior to that, he co-founded two consulting firms - Impresa Technologies and Eclipse Networks.
While at Impresa, Hubert led Commerciant, LP to become the world's first wireless credit card and check processing device manufacturer and processor; additionally, he transformed i2 Telecom, Inc. into a consumer-focused VoIP service provider, and also repositioned Dynamicsoft, Inc. for acquisition by Cisco Systems. As a co-founder and VP of Strategy & Marketing of Eclipse Networks, Hubert was involved in raising $50 million in private equity financing for the company and helped it grow to over 400 employees and a revenue run rate of $40 million within a year. Prior to Eclipse, he was a Senior Manager in BearingPoint's eStrategy practice, and a marketing executive for AT&T Wireless Services where he was responsible for driving the first wireless phone email apps to market, and also for bringing wireless voice bucket plans to market. Before AT&T, Hubert identified the business opportunity and wrote the initial business plan for Convergys, which grew into a pubic $3B billing and customer experience company.
Hubert currently sits on the boards of several organizations including Graviti Energy, TIE Houston, The US Columban Alumni Fund, and CLH Partners. He leads the Chicago Booth Angels Network of Texas, and co-leads TIE Texas Angels. Hubert holds a Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi and an MBA from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago.
